What is the new Par-3 course at The Alto Club?
The Alto Club has unveiled a new 9-hole Par-3 course at SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort, completing its Golf & Academy offering and creating one of the most comprehensive golf experiences on the Costa del Sol.
Designed by Ryder Cup legend Manuel Piñero, the course combines fun, accessibility and technical challenge, making it ideal for golfers of all ages and abilities.
Why is the new Par-3 course important for Sotogrande?
The opening marks the final piece in The Alto Club’s golf ecosystem.
Together, the resort now offers:
- An 18-hole championship golf course
- The Alto Club Golf Academy
- A Toptracer-equipped driving range
- A new 9-hole Par-3 course
This combination allows players to learn, practice and play within one integrated golf destination.
Who is the Par-3 course designed for?
The course has been created for every type of golfer.
Beginners can gain confidence in a relaxed and welcoming environment, while experienced players can refine their iron play, distance control and short-game skills. The layout is also ideal for juniors, families and visitors looking for a quicker golf experience.
What makes this Par-3 course unique?
Unlike many short courses, the new Par-3 layout has been presented to the same high standard as The Alto Club’s main championship course.
With holes ranging from approximately 80 to 200 metres, players are challenged to focus on precision, creativity and course management rather than power alone.
How does the course support player development?
The Par-3 course works hand in hand with The Alto Club Golf Academy, allowing players to immediately apply newly learned skills in a real on-course setting.
Whether improving approach shots, sharpening wedge play or developing strategic thinking, the course provides the perfect environment for meaningful practice and progression.
What role does Suzann Pettersen play at The Alto Club?
Two-time Major Champion and Solheim Cup-winning captain Suzann Pettersen serves as Global Ambassador of The Alto Club Golf Academy.
Her philosophy of making golf more accessible and enjoyable for players of every level has helped shape the Academy’s approach to coaching and player development. The addition of the Par-3 course further strengthens that vision by creating another space where golfers can learn, improve and enjoy the game.
Is The Alto Club becoming a centre for elite player development?
Yes. The Alto Club continues to strengthen its reputation as a centre of excellence for player development.
The club is the training base of Sotogrande-raised Mimi Rhodes, recently selected to represent Europe at the 2026 Solheim Cup, while Sotogrande Global Ambassador Carla Tejedo also uses the facilities as part of her preparation for LPGA Tour competition.
What does the new course add to the SO/ Sotogrande experience?
The Par-3 course enhances the wider lifestyle proposition of SO/ Sotogrande Spa & Golf Resort, where golf, luxury hospitality, wellness, gastronomy and leisure come together in one destination.
Combined with the championship course and Golf Academy, it reinforces The Alto Club’s ambition to offer one of Europe’s most complete golf experiences.
Why should golfers visit The Alto Club?
Golfers can now access a complete golf journey in a single destination, from first-time lessons and junior development to elite practice and championship-level play.
The addition of the new Par-3 course ensures that every visitor, regardless of ability or available time, can enjoy the game while experiencing the unique setting and hospitality of Sotogrande.
